SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 2025 - Well, October certainly has not disappointed from a sled hockey perspective. In the first of our 25/26 Season meetups, the Long Island Sled Hockey squad brought its stellar play and incredible spirit with them to Albany and met the Capital District Sled Warriors on their home ice for a two-day Invitational Challenge.
LISH had plenty of new young blood on the ice (but thankfully no actual blood)! The LISH Squad boarded the bus Saturday morning October 18th, at our home rink in Bethpage and travelled “over the bridges” to Albany. The veteran LISH members were glad to reunite with the opponents, many of whom were already acquaintances, and with this “challenge” morphed into solid friends.
In the end, though the scoreboard may not have reflected “wins”, the first experience for this newly formed LISH squad was nothing short of extraordinary, especially in the teamwork on the ice and the level of play exhibited!
The LISH Organization is grateful to Stride Adaptive Sports and to the Capital District Sled Warriors, for not only engaging in on ice competition, but for hosting the event and the awesome pizza reception that allowed for nice mingling and planning for future events.
